How to have a life outside of writing
As a writer, I know that it can be hard to step away from a writing project. Although that is true, it is crucial that you adapt to a lifestyle that doesn’t involve writing 24/7.
Find things that make you want to explore.
True inspiration happens when you learn what makes you, you, without any title.
So, how do you build a balanced lifestyle for yourself?
Here are tips you can use to create a life outside of writing.
Set boundaries
There’s nothing wrong with loving to write. It’s a problem when it overtakes your life. Do not bring your work stress into your personal life.
Let go of the idea that you need to write every day.
You set boundaries when you hold yourself accountable.
You are responsible for making yourself a priority.
Create a life that allows you to create memories.

Spend time with loved ones
Make time for loved ones. Being a writer can get lonely, but that’s only if you allow that to happen. Reach out to friends and relatives via video chat, phone, or email.
Simply say, “Hello.”
It doesn’t have to be a long conversation.
Check-in with others and form meaningful relationships that shape you into a better version of yourself.
Get outside
Step outside. Inhale and now exhale. Nature has a way to calm the nerves and calm the mind.
Explore outdoor activities.
A simple walk in the park can make all the difference.
During the summer, find activities that allow you to breathe in the fresh air.
Go to the pool, beach, join a running club, or go to a botanical garden. No matter what you decide to do, let it be a time to reconnect to yourself.
Practice self-care
Self-care starts by you listening to what your body needs.
If you need to take a break, do it.
If you haven’t eaten, go and eat.
Stop neglecting self-care.
Nourish your mind, body, and soul.
Volunteer
Giving back to others is a great way you can give back to yourself.
Volunteering can help you learn who you are as a person.
You’ll uncover what skills you are good at and where your priorities are.
Travel
Map out what places you want to visit.
Book your trips and have a blast.
A simple weekend getaway can spark your creativity and be the vacation you need to take time out for yourself more often.
Don’t forget to bring your camera with you.
Create memories.
You’ll have something to look back on.
Learn something new
Want to step out of your comfort zone?
Try something new.
Expand your horizons by learning a new subject.
Choose something you can have fun with.
Add depth to your life.
Your story in life unfolds when you take action toward the things that inspire you to live.
Benefits of creating a life outside writing
When you create a balanced lifestyle, you are able to do so much more. Listen to what you need. Follow through by holding yourself accountable.
You are so much more than any title given to you.
