A simple bedroom declutter technique

Step one

Go through your side drawers (if you have any). Pull out any loose-leaf items. This could be paper, pens, miscellaneous supplies, etc.…

Separate the paper items from the miscellaneous.

Review the paper items and decide whether you want to shred or keep.

Shredded items

If you know you aren’t going to need any of the paper items that are already used or written on, get rid of them.

The Keep items

Any items you need, keep.   Organize your papers by category.

Use paper clips to hold your documents together and put tut in a manila folder.  You can label each folder by subject.

Knowing what items, you have and where you can access them is key.

Put any extra miscellaneous items (pencils, pens, etc.) in a Ziploc bag or wrap a rubber band around your items.

Wipe out your drawers and vacuum if necessary.

Place your newly organized items back in the draw, and you are done.

Clothes organization

The simple way you are going to organize your clothes is to take them section by section.  Regardless of your clothes are in a drawer or closet.

Remember this simple phrase to make the process easier.

You’re going to love it, like it, or donate it.

Love it: Keep it.  Put it in a pile that you know you plan to wear.

Like it: It may not be your favorite clothing item to wear, but that must be a reason why that specific clothing item appeals to you.

Donate it: The moment you look at your piece of clothing you know you aren’t going to wear it.

Try the items in the love it and like it pile.  If you can’t wear it anymore, donate it.

Whatever items fit, keep them.   Either neatly fold it and put it in your drawer or put it on a hanger and place it in your closet.

You can arrange it by type or color.

Your choice.

By incorporating these techniques during your spare time leading up to springtime, you will be surprised at how much you have to do.

Go through your bathroom items and check out the expiration date. If the item has expired, it is time for you to get rid of it.

Organize what’s left for specific use.  For example, hair products in one section and cleaning products in another.

Kitchen

Get rid of the clutter.   Arrange your cabinets in a way that’s easy to grab your most used items.

If some of your kitchen supplies are:

  • Worn and torn
  • Stained
  • Broken

Consider donating it. Sometimes, you may keep kitchen tools that were passed down to you and that’s perfectly okay.

It’s essential to know what you have in your sacred space.

You can choose which method works for you in any other space.  For instance, if you have a bonus room, you may want to use the love it, like it, or donate it method to see which items you want to keep.

Overview of these cleaning techniques

Spring is the perfect time to reset.  But, if you are able to get ahead, it’s so worth it.

Most of the time, when you clean on a weekly basis, you only clean the surface.  However, if you set aside time to do a little bit of deep cleaning of each section of space, it can make all the difference.

The key is to become less stressed and feel at peace in your sacred space.
