A challenge that you may often face is holding yourself accountable.  It’s essential that you have your systems in place.

Sometimes, that is easier said than done.

But what if it doesn’t?

What can you do now to hold yourself accountable?

Below you’ll discover a few techniques to help you achieve your goals, remain on track, and keep your momentum going.

How to hold yourself accountable

Stop Overthinking

By overthinking everything you do, it can put you in that fight or flight mindset.  In which you don’t take action at all.

Rather than foreseeing problems that don’t exist, focus on what steps you can take now.  Go for it and allow things to fall in place.

Progress over perfection.

Step even if it is small

The best way to get things done is to take steps, even if it is small.  Focus on the first task, complete it and be done.

Multitasking allows you to get things done, but you always seem to have to circle back to the task you started with and end up taking on more than you bargained for down the line.

Small steps plus action equal results.

Eliminate distractions

Hone in on what has to get done.  Remove things that drift your mind from the task.   Distractions don’t get results.  A focused mindset with control can.

Remove apps, put your phone on airplane mode or close the extra tabs you have opened.  Do what you have got to do to get the task done.

Flexible routine

Get into a habit of setting up a flexible routine.  It will get your momentum going and take time to take breaks when necessary.

Flexibility prevents you from doing the same routine over and over again.

Switch it up and watch how motivated you become.

You’ll be surprised how much you get done.

Select people that motivate you

Accountability partners can guide you to success.  Choose people that have similar goals as yourself to mentor you.  Furthermore, it allows you to keep on track.  Your accountability partner is someone you can share your progress.

Don’t ever feel like you have to do things alone.  Reach out to someone and ask them to cheer you on and motivate you to keep pushing through until your goal is accomplished.

Track how far you’ve come

Visualize where you want to be by tracking your progress.  You can create a habit tracker or use a mobile application to keep track.

Another idea you might consider is to record your progress.  Pull out your camera or phone and record yourself.

It’s like a video diary of where you started and where you want to go.  By the time you get further along in your journey, you’ll realize how much time and effort you put in to get your desired results.

Visually see yourself accomplishing your goals

Besides, filming yourself, create a vision board.  It will allow you to gather inspirational pictures of where you see yourself a month from now or months later.

See yourself proud.

You should be after all the hard work you did to get where you are at.

Figure out what you’re not willing to negotiate

Set aside time in the day to put in the time to get that goal done.  Even if you don’t have a lot of time, set aside five minutes toward a goal yours.

Setting daily rituals to fulfill the non-negotiables can set the tone for the day, week, month, or the year.
