Can having small talk benefit you in the long run?

Spread the love

Have you ever met someone in person for the first time? But no one talks.

Kind of awkward, sometimes.

It depends on how you react. You both may laugh and admit you are nervous or realize this encounter was a waste of time.

No matter the case, you learn that stepping out of your comfort zone starts somewhere.

Small steps lead to new opportunities, even if it is small talk.

You’d be surprised at the connections you make through a simple conversation.

A Boost of Confidence

Small talk can help build your confidence. It can give you the courage to speak, especially if you are a shy person.

Don’t be afraid to walk up to a person in the store you are in and start a conversation. It could be as simple as getting someone’s opinion.

It could be intimidating or pointless because you aren’t going to ever see the person again.

Although that is true, it doesn’t hurt to practice.

Break out your shell! Start organic conversations because it allows you to have that human interaction.

Genuine

When the conversation comes from a genuine place, everything will fall into place.

Expectations

The worst thing you can do when you start a conversation is to go into it assuming how someone responds to a question.

Why start a conversation knowing what’s to come?

Can you say predictable?

That’s no way to go about life, even if it is small talk.

Plan or Go with the flow

It’s great to have a plan in place. However, it can be exhausting planning how you want to go.

In reality, it doesn’t work out that way.

You are in control of you.

Value who you are as an individual. Interaction with others is just a bonus.

Know Thyself

No matter how timid, shy, or brave you are, it’s important to learn what you want, and it is okay to rediscover the type of connections you want to build.

Benefits of Small Talk

You learn and accept the fact that it is perfectly okay to laugh at yourself.

Embrace those awkward moments you may encounter. It empowers you to not sweat the small stuff and for you to embrace growth.

Growth leads you to destinations that transform your life.

Allow yourself to be confident, even if you mess up. Imperfections shape you and make you into a strong individual.

But you have to accept that you are human and that you are changing.

You are more than capable of adapting and learning.

You are the journey.

Take in every moment.
